Basic and Intermediate Certifications

BASIC CERTIFICATION

The USA Archery Association developed this course to teach the very basic fundamentals of archery safety.  It is utilized by summer camps, boy scouts, girl scouts, Parks and Rec's, private schools, public schools, Home School Associations, YMCA's, church youth communities, and archery clubs. Anyone that wants to hold a safe and effective archery activity for their group will benefit from attending this course.

There is no previous archery knowledge or qualifications required to attend and become certified as a Basic Certified Level 1 Instructor

The American Camping Association recognizes this Basic Certification for accrediation for camp counselors and instructors.

The Basic Certification class information includes,

The basic, simple fundamentals of how to instruct students to safely and successfully shoot an arrow into the target at short distances

Proper selection of archery equipment for your program needs.

The Basic Certification is a 6-8 hour course, with a short test at the end of the course.

It generally provides instruction to no more than 12 participants per class for a one day class. This class requires no previous archery knowledge or experience.

The Basic Certification is good for 3 years from the date of successful completion of the course. You must be at least 16 years of age to become a Basic Certified Instructor

INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATION

This class is intended for people that have either successfully completed the Basic Certification, or already have some ( a minimum of 6 months) archery experience.

The purpose of the Intermediate Certification is to advance your archery teaching skills, to begin to more easily recognize appropriate skills, to critique and address problem areas for your students. It will help you to recognize and teach the archery skills required to achieve a higher level of archery success. You will also learn about appropriate selection of proper equipment.  Successful completition of this course will qualify you to teach the Basic Certification Course to others.

The beauty of this certification course is that once you have (successfully completed the Intermediate Certification course) been certified as an Intermediate Instructor, you are qualified to teach and certify the Basic Certification course. This can be a tremendous savings for camps and groups that see a turnover in camp counselors from year to year.

The American Camping Association recognizes the Intermediate Certification for accredation for camp counselors and instructors.

The Intermediate Certification is a 2 day - 8 hours per day class, (16 hours, minimum) with a test at the end of the 2nd course. It provides instruction for no more than 12 participants per class for the 2 days. You must attend all 16 hours in order to receive your certification certificate. You must be a minimum of 18 years old to qualify for certification.
